Linux Distribution Timeline thumb.svg

A linux distribution is a combination of software that includes the linux kernel. Due to the use of Free Software many distributions are based on other Linux distributions.

Non-GNU LinuxEdit

Non-GNU Linux is Linux bundled with propriety software. While these systems use the Linux kernel, the whole package is NOT distributed with the same GNU General Public License. Different parts of the system have different licenses.
